Cherished App Support
Support for caregivers using the Cherished app
This page is for caregivers using the Cherished iPhone/iPad app to support a loved one living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. If you don't find your answer here, email us anytime at cherished@ed5x.com.
What Cherished Does
Cherished turns your iPhone or iPad into a calming photo and music experience to help your loved one:
- See familiar faces
- Feel less anxious or confused
- Settle into a simple, predictable daily routine
You add photos of family, friends, and caregivers, then let the app play a looping slideshow with gentle background music.
Getting Started
1. Download & open the app
- Install Cherished from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Open the app and follow the on-screen steps.
2. Create a Person
- Tap to add your loved one.
- Enter their name and relationship (for example: "Mom," "Dad," "Spouse").
3. Add photos
- Add at least 3 clear, close-up photos of important people in their life.
- You can label each person (e.g., "Daughter – Sarah," "Grandson – Daniel").
4. Start a slideshow
- Tap Play to begin the calming slideshow with music.
- The app will automatically cycle through photos on a 20-second display to allow time for recognition and emotional response.
Use Cherished at the same time each day if possible (for example, before dinner or in the evening) to make it a comforting routine.
