Getting Started
How do I add my first medication?
- Complete the welcome process
- Tap "Add Medication"
- Enter the medication name, dosage, and quantity
- Save and create a schedule
How do I set up medication reminders?
- Select a medication from your list
- Tap "Add Schedule"
- Choose your schedule type (daily, weekly, specific days, etc.)
- Set the time you take your medication
- Enable notifications when prompted
Do I need a subscription?
Yes, Pillwatcher requires a subscription to access all features including unlimited medications, photo capture, voice confirmation, and reliable reminders. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial.
Using the App
How do I mark a dose as taken?
- Tap the medication when it's due
- Choose your logging method (photo or voice)
- Or tap "Mark as Taken" to log without photo/voice
What are photo and voice logging?
- Photo Capture: Take a photo of your medication for your own record-keeping (helps you remember)
- Voice Confirmation: Say the medication name out loud for hands-free logging. Voice is processed on-device only and never stored.
Note: These are memory aids only. The app cannot verify you actually took your medication - it relies on your honest self-reporting.
Can I skip the photo/voice logging?
Yes, tap "Skip Photo" or "Continue Without Photo" if you prefer to mark doses without taking a photo.
What if I miss a dose?
Doses are automatically marked as missed 2 hours after the scheduled time. You can view missed doses in your history.
Notifications
I'm not receiving notifications. What should I do?
- Go to iPhone Settings → Notifications → Pillwatcher
- Ensure "Allow Notifications" is enabled
- Check that notification sound is not muted
- Verify your schedule is set up correctly in the app
How do I change notification sounds?
The app uses a gentle reminder sound. To change system notification settings, go to iPhone Settings → Notifications → Pillwatcher.
Can I get notifications for multiple medications?
Yes! Add as many medications as you need, and you'll receive separate reminders for each one.
Managing Medications
How do I edit a medication?
- Go to My Medications
- Tap the medication you want to edit
- Make your changes
- Save
How do I delete a medication?
- Go to My Medications
- Tap the medication you want to delete
- Scroll down and tap "Delete Medication"
- Confirm deletion
Can I pause reminders for a medication?
Yes. You can disable schedules for a medication without deleting it. Go to the medication details and toggle off the schedule.
History & Tracking
Where can I see my medication history?
Tap the "History" tab to see your complete medication timeline, including all taken, missed, and skipped doses.
Can I see photos I've taken of my medications?
Yes. Your photos are saved within each dose record in your history. Tap a dose to view the photo you took.
How do I export my medication data?
Currently, your data is stored locally on your device and syncs via iCloud. Data export features may be added in future updates.
Subscription & Billing
How do I manage my subscription?
- Open iPhone Settings
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap "Subscriptions"
- Select Pillwatcher
How do I cancel my subscription?
Follow the steps above to manage your subscription, then tap "Cancel Subscription." Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
If you cancel, you'll lose access to premium features at the end of your billing period. Your medication data will remain on your device.
Privacy & Data
Is my medication data private?
Yes. All your medication data is stored locally on your device and syncs via iCloud. We never upload your medication names, schedules, or photos to our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Does Pillwatcher use my voice recordings?
No. Voice recognition is processed on-device only using Apple's speech recognition. We never store or transmit your voice data.
Can I delete all my data?
Yes. Go to Settings in the app and tap "Delete All Data." This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Troubleshooting
The app is crashing. What should I do?
- Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed
- Restart your iPhone
- If the problem persists, contact us at pillwatcher@ed5x.com
My data isn't syncing across devices. What's wrong?
- Make sure you're signed into the same iCloud account on all devices
- Check that iCloud is enabled for Pillwatcher in iPhone Settings → iCloud
- Ensure you have internet connectivity
I can't take photos. What should I check?
- Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
- Make sure Pillwatcher has camera permission enabled
